This building in Machin Road was to be subject to the Bristol City Council (BCC) Community Asset Transfer process but no community organisation including H&BCC came forward. (The H&BCC Committee decided it did not have the resourcess to take over and run the building).
BCC are now about to finalise a three year lease of the building to a charity called Kids Company or KidsCo, who work with youngsters with emotional and behavioural difficulties who are unable to attend normal schools. Their multidisciplinary approach combines health, housing, emotional wellbeing, mental health, arts, sports, youth justice, education and employment. These interventions are designed to strengthen, supplement or substitute the child’s parenting experience.
KidsCo will utilise the whole building from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm five days a week during school terms working with up to 12 15-16 yr olds on a one to one basis.
Under the terms of the lease to be finalised the build will be available from 3:30 pm on two evenings a week and all weekend for wider community uses.
Learning Partnership West will have some access for youth activites on other evenings.
